Cross-Connection Control Public Outreach
The December 2023 update to the Cross-Connection Control (CCC) Policy Handbook requires public water systems to submit a CCC plan, which must contain an education and outreach element that includes educating staff, customers, and the community about backflow protection and cross-connection control.
This requirement can be implemented through a variety of methods such as water bill inserts, pamphlets, new customer documentation, email, and consumer confidence reports. To help meet these requirements and provide consistent messaging across the State, California Urban Water Agencies developed public outreach materials that can be downloaded from the CUWA website:
